Nice work Dave... The trip in to SKC is quite the day trip, eh? Congrats on adding that to your list. I still need to get the Eagle and the Coastal Cutt to round out my collection for CA Native Trout. Apache is completed as of July 2005, and this year I may try to add 5 cutts in the UT, WY, MT loop, maybe in July.

Nice Website- I am HTC #5 and need Goose Lake, Warner Lakes, and Eagle Lake to complete all 12 species in CA. Looking for possible Klammath Basin Redband population in CA also and still hope one day Bull Trout can be re-introduced to the McCloud although unlikely. Up to 32 species of trout and Salmon caught in North America so I think we all have a ways to go to equal the great Robert H. Smith. Where did you get your Paiute Cutt? Silver King Creek is closed to fishing. I got mine in 1994 on Tamarack Creek below Llewelyn Falls and it was a big stroke of luck as it could be a hybrid too. Just curious.

Nice pictures of the fish. I thought Silver King Creek is closed to all fishing. Did you get permission from the CA DFG to catch Paiutes? Just curious.

  4. Ned - Silver King used to be closed just above LLewelyn Falls. You could hike in to the falls and hope to catch one that had come over. However, this year they closed Silver King all the way down to Tamarac Creek so the window of opportunity to catch a Paiute has closed.

  5. Nice photos! I see that I am missing at least three on the list that I have never caught. Guess that means I keep fishing!

  7. A tad late with this comment, but very nice indeed. My son and I completed the challenge this past summer and were awarded HTC Certificates Nos. 148 and 149. We got the 3 redbands and the coastal cutt this summer ona 5 day 1,800 mile adventure to the northern part of the State, and the Kern Rainbow and Golden last summer from the Kern River area. My 15 yr old daughter now wants to join the group as well, and I figure we will have her with 6 of the 10 possible (Paiute off limits right now. Shes already got the Coastal ow and the Golden!
